I'm an Assistant Professor of Geography at Arizona State University where I seek to develop methods using remote sensing and GIS to better understand our environment and ecosystems. Together with my graduate students, we study issues related to land change, resilience, weather, and resource management.

News and Events

April 2019: Ph.D. student Ben Hemingway was recently awarded the 2019 Oklahoma State University Holistic Science Prize. This award recognizes students that are performing, interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary, and holistic research. Ben's research crosses disciplinary boundaries and contributes to Geography, Atmospheric Sciences, and Fluid Mechanics. Congratulations, Ben!

April 2019: Ph.D. student Colton Flynn was highlighted in the student spotlight at Oklahoma State University for his Fulbright Award - Flynn travels to Ethiopia for research opportunities

March 2019: Ph.D. student Ben Hemingway was awarded an NSF Doctoral Dissertation Research Improvement Grant to study the Spatial Structure of Turbulent Flows in the Atmospheric Boundary Layer.  Way to go, Ben!

September 2018: Congrats to Ph.D. student Ben Hemingway for being awarded the Distinguished Graduate Research Fellowship from Oklahoma State University.  Congrats, Ben!

April 2018: Congrats to Ph.D. student Ben Hemingway for being awarded a travel grant to attend the annual meeting of the International Society for Atmospheric Research using Remotely Piloted Aircraft (ISARRA) in July in Boulder, CO where he will present some of his research using sUAS for atmospheric sampling.  Congrats, Ben!

April 2018: Congrats to Ph.D. student Colton Flynn for being awarded the Walter Kolb Graduate Studies Scholarship from Oklahoma State University AND the Jerry Croft and Family Award for Geographic Education from the Department of Geography at OKState. Way to go Colton!

 

October 2017: Congrats to Ph.D. student Ben Hemingway for winning 1st place in the Southwest Division of the American Association of Geographers (SWAAG) graduate student paper competition at the annual meeting in Huntsville, TX!
